Hey, I'm Javi
I lead Product and Growth at an AI startup in San Francisco, founded by Sebastian Thrun.
I joined BeReal and Retro in their early days, and that's where I learned what I still obsess over: retention, viral loops, and product experiences people actually come back to. These days I also advise early-stage consumer apps.
Everything on this screen is part of my story so far. Tap around to explore my experience, or get in touch.
BeReal.
Founding Growth Team · 2022–2024
I joined BeReal in 2022 on the founding growth team, before the app had really taken off outside France. I led the UK launch, growing DAUs 19x in two months and taking BeReal to #1 on the App Store.
From there I moved to international expansion, building and managing on-the-ground teams across the UK, Australia, Indonesia, and the US, and working closely with the COO.
I left in 2024, shortly after BeReal was acquired by Voodoo for €500M.
Retro
Head of Growth · 2024–2025
In 2023 I cold emailed Nathan, Retro's founder, to tell him I loved the product and saw the same early potential I'd seen at BeReal. Six months later I joined as Head of Growth to take it worldwide.
I built and led on-the-ground teams across Europe, Asia, and the US, taking Retro to Top Charts in all three regions. The wildest chapter was Taiwan, where Retro went properly viral.
By the time I left, Retro had gone from a small user base to 7M+ users and was named a 2025 App Store Awards finalist.
Corner
Advisor · 2025
Corner has been one of my favorite consumer products of the last couple of years, so I reached out to Eliza, the founder, and offered to help.
Through 2025 I advised the team on user acquisition and the product features behind growth and retention, mainly onboarding, notifications, and referrals.
GOLD
Product & Growth · 2025–Present
I joined Gold in 2025 to lead product and growth, and took the app from pre-launch to Top Charts in the US. Day to day I work across engineering, design, and ML, deciding what we build and shipping it.
The feature I'm proudest of is our newest search, the one playing on the phone. You describe what you're looking for in plain language, and it recommends pieces based on your taste graph. I led the ML engineers and designers who built it, from first prototype to rollout.
Side projects
Nights & Weekends
I love building things on my own time. Partly to learn new tools, but mostly because I want to understand what's actually happening under the hood of every product I use.
The one on this screen is ExpenseTracker, a personal finance app I built end to end: front-end, backend, infra, all of it. It pulls my accounts and portfolios into one place, and the latest addition is a self-hosted model that reads across all of my data to give me insights and recommendations. So far I've only shared it with friends.
